Hemels Publishers

About

Founded at the end of 1994, Hemels Publishers is one of the Netherlands' leading providers of customer publishing, in both print and online forms. The company is based in the Dutch media capital of Hilversum, and its extensive customer base comprises several multinationals operating inside and outside the Netherlands' borders, along with leading Dutch companies and governmental organisations. Hemels produces magazines, newsletters and other content for the Business-to-Business, Business-to-Consumer and Corporate-Internal sectors.

At the beginning Hemels was primarily active in the automotive sector but the company quickly diversified into sectors that include aviation, telecommunications, banking and financial services, leisure and travel, entertainment and governmental organisations. In addition to having a strong focus on producing customer media for its domestic clients, Hemels' international activities have created an important differentiator for the company amongst its competitors. Since its inception, Hemels has accumulated a wealth of international publishing expertise, made possible by native-speaking, in-house specialists from most major European countries, complemented by a sizeable international network of journalists, photographers and other specialists. The company also works on a contracted basis with an international network of advertisement acquisition agencies.

To facilitate its broad offering and channel its streams of expertise to the benefit of its various clients, Hemels Publishers has three separate business units. One of these is an extensive international business unit. The other two, which are primarily domestic business units, serve its extensive and diverse Dutch clientele. The company has its own, in-house editorial, studio and advertisement sales departments. Hemels Publishers is an active member of both the SMIN, the Dutch association of customer media companies, and the international, UK-based APA. It is also a founder member of ICPF.

Services

Hemels' core business is the production of magazines and online copy that reward the customers of its clients and strengthens the bond and loyalty they feel towards them. The company can provide a range of services, ranging from only the production of copy, images and layout design, to the assumption of complete responsibility for the production of a title, including printing, delivery and even fulfilment responsibilities.

The magazines and newsletters that Hemels produces vary from automotive titles with a distinct lifestyle component, to travel magazines that inspire readers to broaden their travel and leisure horizons. The company also produces a segmented corporate-internal magazine that informs, educates and entertains employees, thereby boosting their affinity and involvement with their employer. This personnel magazine is produced as a base version then supplemented with regional content that allows it to be distributed across 17 different regions in the Netherlands. An online newsletter, that can also accommodate locally segmented content, is also produced for this same client,

Hemels' clients, both international and national, include renowned brands, such as Mercedes-Benz, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Toyota, Lexus, NEC Philips, Akzo Nobel, Liberty Global, BCD Travel, T-Mobile and UWV, the Dutch unemployment benefits organisation.

To facilitate and accelerate the production of its titles and safeguard the quality therein, an additional and unique service is also offered by Hemels. Known as OverC, this is an intuitive online checking and approval system by which clients can monitor the final production stages of their magazine from wherever they are. To ensure that clients always have the opportunity to peruse and approve the advertisements that are run in their magazines, OverC is also used for advertisements.
